01 Who we are

Team8 Active operates a results-driven gym and 6-week medical program for the over-50s community, based at 4/645–647 Pittwater Rd, Dee Why NSW 2099, on Sydney's Northern Beaches. We work alongside Team8 Physio, our affiliated physiotherapy practice, to deliver assessments and one-on-one sessions as part of our programs.

For the purposes of Australian privacy law, Team8 Active is the entity responsible for the personal information described in this policy.

02 Information we collect

We collect only what we need to run your free tour, membership, or medical program properly. Depending on how you interact with us, this may include:

  • Contact details — name, email, phone number and address, given when you book a tour, join a class waitlist, or enquire online.
  • Membership details — the plan you choose (Teams Classic or Teams Flexi), billing details, and attendance at classes.
  • Account & booking activity — classes booked, tour requests, and communications with our front-desk or coaching team.
  • Website usage — pages visited, device and browser type, and general location data (see Cookies below).
  • Reviews & testimonials — if you leave us a Google review or testimonial, we may display your name and comments on our site with your consent.

03 Health & assessment data

Our 6-week medical programs — covering areas like osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, diabetes, cardiovascular health, joint replacement recovery and chronic back pain — involve a physiotherapy assessment before you start. This means we may collect sensitive health information, such as:

  • Medical history, current conditions and medications relevant to safe exercise;
  • Physiotherapist and exercise physiologist notes, assessments and progress records;
  • Mobility, strength and fitness benchmarks used to personalise your program.
Handled with extra care

Health information is "sensitive information" under Australian privacy law. We only collect it with your clear consent, use it strictly to design and adjust your exercise program, and restrict access to your coaching physiologist and treating physiotherapist.

You can ask to see, correct, or withdraw this information at any time — it will never affect your right to use general gym facilities.

04 How we use your information

  • To book and confirm your free tour or trial;
  • To design, run and adjust your personalised exercise or medical program;
  • To process membership payments and manage billing;
  • To send class schedules, program updates, and — only if you opt in — news and offers;
  • To maintain a safe gym environment and respond to incidents;
  • To improve our website, classes and programs based on how they're used.

05 Sharing & disclosure

We don't sell your personal information. We only share it where it's needed to run the gym and your program, including with:

  • 1
    Team8 PhysioOur affiliated physiotherapy practice, for assessments and clinical notes tied to your medical program.
  • 2
    Payment processorsTo securely process membership fees and one-off payments. We don't store full card details ourselves.
  • 3

  • 4

  • 5
    Regulators & authoritiesOnly where required by law, or to protect the safety of our members and staff.

06 Cookies & the website

Our website uses cookies and similar tools to remember your preferences, understand which pages and classes attract the most interest, and measure how people find us. This may include analytics tools (such as Google Analytics) and booking-widget cookies.

You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings. Some parts of the site, like the free tour booking form, may not work properly without them.

07 Security & storage

We store personal and health information using reputable cloud-based systems with access controls, and keep paper assessment forms in locked storage at our Dee Why studio. Access to sensitive health records is limited to staff directly involved in delivering your program.

No system is completely risk-free, but we review our practices regularly and will notify affected members and the OAIC of any data breach likely to cause serious harm, as required by law.

08 Retention

We keep membership and billing records for as long as needed for legal, accounting and program-continuity purposes. Health and assessment records from our medical programs are retained in line with clinical record-keeping obligations, then securely destroyed or de-identified.

09 Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you can ask us to:

  • Access a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
  • Correct information that's inaccurate, out of date or incomplete;
  • Withdraw consent to marketing, or to non-essential use of health data;
  • Delete information we're not required to keep by law;
  • Ask how a decision affecting you was made using your information.

If you're not satisfied with our response, you can lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.

10 Under-18s
